Incredible Edibles
The children from third class are having great fun taking part in the incredibleedibles challenge once again this year. At the beginning of March they planted lettuce and turnip seeds, which will be transplanted into our new raised garden when they are strong enough. They also planted potatoes and strawberries. At the end of March they hope to plant carrots outside. Last year's third class had a great harvest from their plants which they grew in the classroom. Lets hope our outdoor harvest will be just as good this year.
Incredibleedible plant update
All the plants have grown very well except for the turnips. They have all died!! If anyone knows anything about growing turnips from seeds please let us know so we can figure out where we went wrong. On the plus side, the potatoes, strawberries lettuce and carrots all seem to be doing very well. Thanks to Dean in 6th class we now also have radishes. The recent windy weather has blown everything about quite a bit but the plants seem to have survived. The summer shrub tubs have also recently been planted. Thank you Martin and Caoimhe from 5th class and my many volunteers from 3rd class for all your help.
